Why We Love Conway

Conway, South Carolina is a small river town fifteen minutes from Myrtle Beach that takes its holidays so seriously, the South Carolina House of Representatives took notice. Conway now holds the title of Holiday Capital of South Carolina, earned through the town's over the top efforts around Valentine's Day, Easter, Christmas, and Halloween. And if you ask us, there's no better way to take it all in than from the seat of a Pedal Pub, decked out to match the occasion, playlist included.

October is when Conway goes all out, and so do we. We decorate the bike to match, so you're not just riding past 5,000 pumpkins strung through the trees along Main Street, you're rolling through them on a bike done up for the season. Throw on your best group costume and think of it as the grown-up version of trick or treating. Instead of going door to door, you're pedaling stop to stop, and instead of candy, you're picking up drink specials at every one of them. Riding in costume through a town that already looks like a movie set, with a Halloween playlist blasting the whole way, might be the single best way to get into the spirit, especially if trick or treating stopped being an option a few years ago.

December brings Rivertown Christmas, and our bike gets the full holiday treatment right along with downtown. It's the perfect stage for an ugly sweater, a Santa suit, or your best Cindy Lou Who. There's something about pedaling past a Christmas tree lighting or a parade of floats, dressed like you just stepped out of Whoville, with holiday music playing overhead, that makes the whole thing feel like the party it's supposed to be. Bonus points if the whole crew coordinates.

Then February rolls around, and the usual Valentine's Day go-to is a dinner reservation, but there's more to it in Conway. Downtown gets decorated for the holiday too, and with hearts and pink and red strung up around town, a Pedal Pub ride makes for the perfect date night. Or, if you're more anti-Valentine's Day than hearts and flowers, a tour of local bars with your friends might be exactly what the day calls for instead. Either way, the bike gets dressed up to match, love-song playlist included, and you're riding through downtown with your favorite people rather than just one.

The truth is, normal holiday traditions are great, but they're not the only way to celebrate. If you're over the same dinner, the same party, or the same quiet night in, a Pedal Pub ride gives you a reason to dress up, show up, and actually have fun with a holiday instead of just observing it. Conway earned its Holiday Capital title by going all in on every season. The least we can do is show up dressed for the occasion.
